Lighthouse

My last card for the day and I never thought I would use a Cardabilities sketch for a male card because they always scream feminine to me...lol...but here it is. I've used the colour Q colour selection and both The Challenge & CASology want Nautical. There are a few blogs with the same cue over the last week or so. I was going to 'do' a ship but opted for this lighthouse which is the first time I've used it so very pleased about that. Anyway, I'm off to have dinner with my hubby who had a late shift today, I hope your Wednesday has gone well. Thanks for popping in...

What's on your Workdesk Wednesday #316

Wow! I can't believe a week has gone already and it's Wednesday again....where do the days go when you're having fun?? I know today didn't go as planned that's for sure but I made it out to my Craft Room so that's the main thing. My story started yesterday...I went to the doctor for one of those horrible 'womens' check ups as the reminder has been on the fridge for a couple of months but just hadn't got around to making the appointment. Well now that I'm a lady of leisure which becomes official on Friday...bring on Friday...I thought I should make a concerted effort to tick this off the list of things to do. So yesterday, I toddled off to the doctors and she snavveled me for some more tests..quote 'you are 50 this year and that's when things start to go wrong' unquote. So she asked me to go and get a blood test...not a problem. My plan was to go down early, then grab a few groceries and be home by 10.30am to hit my craft desk and whip up a stamping storm. The thing is, apparently she wanted me to redo a Diabetes test (which I didn't realise) and that takes 2 hours and 3 needle jabs not 1!!!! Not happy and then next week she wants me for an hour to a health check...whatever that entails I don't really know but I guess I'll be finding out.

Anyhoo, back to why we are here. This was my desk this afternoon. I hit the Christmas challenge blogs looking for inspiration, pulled out my two Christmas tubs, one with stamps and bling, the other with Christmas papers.

I actually stepped out of my comfort zone and did 'cute'...I struggle with cute but anyway I got there in the end, link here.
Now if you're wondering why I'm waffling on about my Wednesday and what's on my desk, pop on over to Julia's blog via here and she'll explain it all and if you're interested, play along and check out some of the craft desks from around the world.

Snowman

Today I have been surfing the Christmas challenges and I have to admit, Merry Monday pushed me out of my comfort zone to create a Christmas card with a funky hat...hmmm I struggled but in the end I got there. I also used the latest sketch from Fab Friday, the latest colour combo from Cards in Envy and I'm also playing along with Tuesday ThrowdownAAA Cards (who I have never played with before) they both want stenciling. I hope you have time to play along too and as always thanks for stopping by.

Happy

My last card for the day and I am playing along with DT at Retro Sketches...I have used some Distress Ink background card that I made a while ago and fussy cut around the 'happy' die cut. I must admit this die cut is becoming a firm favourite. I then added a pennant and mounted a button for a bit of bling. Hope your Monday is off to a good start and thanks for stopping by...

Flip Flops

Well, I'm still getting used to not having to go to work so much so that I did do a bit this morning as I still have my tablet, phone and laptop until Friday and there were a few things outstanding that I just couldn't ignore...I'm just not that sort of person to leave it unfinished. So anyway, that made it a late start in my craft room today.
I've been looking at the latest CAS(E) this Sketch since it was posted last week trying to work out what I could do with it when this hit me. The 3 strips were scaring me as I just can't seem to pull that sort of thing off so I thought I could go with just colour running through the card and as it happens Paper Sweeties have a colour combo that suits summer where The Paper Players want summer treats, Curtain Call want flip flops and Make My Monday want the beach so it all tied in really well. I also got to use my flip flop die that I've had for a while and a sentiment from a new stamp set from Close to my Heart which is always a good thing. :)  Thanks for taking a peek...

5 in 5 - June 2015

This is my first time playing along with Sandie and her 5 in 5 monthly photos. As it's late in the month and I only have a few days before it closes until next month, I thought I would take you on a tour around my yard.
I live in tropical North Queensland, Australia where it is pretty much summer all year round and we live on a very large house block with lots of space, gardens and yard. Being that we live in tropical Australia, there are hundreds and I mean hundreds of palm trees in our yard. We have that many that we have probably taken out over 100 palm trees and I'm not exaggerating.
Even though we don't really have a winter, this is technically our winter right now and to highlight that, you can see in this pic where our 'Snowflake' is in flower and it only flowers in the 'winter' time. I just love this bush, it is so soft and delicate when it's 'flowering'. It doesn't really flower, the new leaves just come through white and as they die off they turn a shade of pink.

This photo is of a new addition to our yard...our passionfruit vines. We actually planted two varieties, the yellow and the purple passionfruit. We tried once before several years ago in a different spot but it mustn't of liked where it was and died. So this time we have put it in another area of the yard and it is thriving. It grew very fast but took a while to actually fruit. Hubby thought maybe there weren't enough bees around (apparently there is a world shortage) so he has taken to pollinating the flowers and as you can see in this pic, we have fruit and this is just a small part of a bumper crop that we are eagerly awaiting to ripen.

And last but not least....my/our trusty companion, Ozzie,  he's been following me around the yard wondering what I am doing while he takes in some rays. I'm actually not a big 'dog person', I'm more of a 'cat person' but I just love this little fellow perhaps because he is small. I actually saw on the internet recently a joke saying something to the effect, if you have teenagers get a pet at least then someone will be happy to see you when you get home and that is soooo true in this house. LOL Thanks for letting me play along and thank you for popping in and checking out my little part of the world.

Bring your own Sunshine

Well I have to admit, this was a tough one...the DT at Try Stampin' on Tuesday wanted something to do with Rain and apparently I don't have any umbrella's, rainbows, galloshes or anything related to rain except my embossing folder that I brayered and then pressed onto my card...I guess I don't have any rain themed stamps because we don't get much rain!! I had several things to do with sunshine because we get heaps of that where I live! lol
Anyway, I have used the latest sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches where I could show some sunshine peeking through which I thought was pretty cool and added a verse that I thought fitted the layout and theme perfectly. Make sure you pop on over and check out the challenges and even play along.

Try Stampin' on Tuesday: Challenge #223 -Rain

Season's Greetings

I have started my Stamping Saturday off with a Christmas card...this Christmas tree is one of my faves. I have taken up the challenge from CASE-ing Christmas with the below photo to be used for inspiration and Jingle Belles don't want you to use any designer paper. I made my background with distress inks and then stenciled it with a contrasting DI, stamped the tree and greeting and added a bit of bling...Thanks for popping in,

Thank you

Well I'm back with another card after becoming a lady of leisure...for this card I have used the latest sketch from Feeling Sketchy, the colour combo from Sweet Stampin' and Just Us Girls (been a while since I have played along with these ladies) want 'stacked die cuts'. Thanks for popping in...

Just Because you're Fabulous

I finished this card late yesterday but I am only getting a chance to post it now...I have a few thank you cards to make as I said in a previous post and this is the first of them. For this card I have used the latest layout (turned on it's side) and colour combo from Inspired by Stamping...I just love the colours and as I have really slipped into a CAS style of card doing layers really makes me think these days. I'm also adding my card to the latest Allsorts challenge who's theme is Flower Power. Hope your week has been going well and as always, thanks for popping by.

What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday #315

Hello All, well I'm not normally at my desk through the week as I work full time but after a major announcement by the company I work for on Monday, I am now unemployed! They have had a restructure of territories and my position is going to be serviced from the state capital city and as I don't want to move with the position they have made me redundant. Now most people would be upset by this but I'm actually not due to major changes made in February, since then work has not been 'fun' at all so I was actually looking for another job anyway, so this is a nice going away present.
<big smiles>
I will also be having a rather large holiday as we have already booked a holiday to Europe in August so I'm not going to actively look for a job until after we come back...the upside of that is I get to play in my craft room a lot more than I have been able to since it was built!! woohoo!! happy dance!!

Anyway, back to why I'm posting pictures of my desk...if you pop on over to Julia's blog she'll tell you all about it and maybe you would like to play along. It has been a long time since I have been able to play and post a picture or two or three of my desk but this is hopefully the first of many more to come at least until I go on holidays. <grin>
The first pic is of my new stamps & embossing folders that I need to find a home for because I don't get much time to actually stamp, filing and sorting is the not high on the list even though it has been irking me for a while, so that was my first job this morning. The above photo is the first card I made today very CAS as you can see but I was able to use a new die that hadn't been used yet so I'm very happy.

Now my last photo is my day in full swing! There is stuff everywhere as you can see, I'm not normally that messy so I just had to take a photo of my desk as it was by the end of my Wednesday. I have made this card for the staff at a motel that I have stayed at when I was in Cairns over the last 7 years as they have actually become friends. I don't really 'do' thank you cards but over the next week or so I am going to make a few for those special clients I have had. If you would like to see the end result, come back a bit later and I should have it posted. Until then, thank you for popping by and checking out my desk, I am off to see what the other desks around the world look like.

Fly away with Me...

Now, back to why we are really here...today's card is nothing like I thought I would make. I actually started out to make a feminine card and ended up creating a male/kids card...how does that happen!!?? lol
Anyhoo, I have used the latest layout from showCASe your style and I have used the latest colour combo over at Sunday Stamps and I'm also entering it over at CASology who's cue card is Kids,  make sure you pop on over and check them out. Thanks for stopping by...
