What's on your Workdesk Wednesday #255

Hi Fellow Peeps....I'm on holidays this week so I actually have had time to play at my desk and take a photo so I can play along at What's on your Workdesk Wednesday!! If you're wondering what I'm talking about, check out Julia's blog here where she will tell you all about it.

The weekend after next, we are travelling south by car for about 8 hours to Yeppoon for a friends wedding. We leave on Friday and drive home on Sunday....needless to say, it's going to be a big weekend. So on that note, I have to make a wedding card. I really struggle with white on white even though when someone else makes it I really like it and once again....I gave in and there is a touch of another colour.

For my card I have made a lattice window, then die cut some flourish leaves and started layering.

Originally, I was going to make my own flowers but they weren't really making a 'statement' so I went with my last really big flower. I don't really gravitate to such a large flower but I thought being a wedding card it needed to make a bit of a statement. My touch of colour came from the little butterflies I die cut and punched out. I then added a few pearls and viola...done!! It sounds like I breezed through making this card but I didn't...hehe...there was lots of tooing and froing.

Anyway, pop on over to Julia's blog and check out some of the other desks from around the world and why not even join in! Hope to see you there and as always, thanks for stopping by.

Our Beautiful World - Transport

When I first saw this weeks prompt for Our Beautiful World, I wasn't overly excited. But after looking at the teams photos and seeing Robyn's 'old' car I found my inspiration!! This photo is of my Grandparents, before they were married....as you can imagine this is a much loved photo in our family. The story goes, that when Pop took my Nan for a ride on his motorbike her dress flew up and showed her bloomers and she was deeply embarrassed.

I do like 'old' things and I think this old truck is amazing, sadly it's days are over but I remember riding on the back of a truck very much like this one (something we can't do today) with a bunch of my cousins off to the Queens Gardens (a very large park) to play. It is one of my best childhood memories....

Transport plays a big part in our lives today...my husband is a train driver and this is a picture of one that he was driving at the time the photo was taken. It was being filled with zinc to be exported around the world.

And here is a bit of  'fun' transport...last September we visited my brother in law in Rockhampton. He and his partner have fun driving Blo-karts along the beach where they even have competition days with other enthusiasts. Sadly you can't ride these on every beach as you need a particular type of beach & sand because if you could...we would have one! Hubby & I (pictured here) had a ball!!!
Make sure you pop on over to check out the other amazing shots of transport from all over the world, it's a great prompt, thanks Ros.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

I'm back with another Christmas card...this is great, if all goes according to plan, my lead up with Christmas will be stress free in regards to Christmas cards anyway..hehe
For this card I have joined in with the latest sketch from Just Add Ink and over at Sparkles Christmas Challenge they want a card inspired by a Christmas Carol/Song, so mine is based on Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Well, that's it for me today...hopefully I'll get a bit of craft time tomorrow. Thanks for popping in...

2 Turtle Doves

Hi Fellow Crafters...well lucky me has 3 days off work so naturally, I'm in my craft room! I decided to add to my Christmas card collection today so off I went browsing the Christmas challenge blog sites where I came across the latest challenge from 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, they want a 12 days of Christmas theme and after much debate, I remembered I had this little bird die so 2 turtle doves it was and also over at Sparkles Christmas Challenge they want a card inspired by a Christmas Carol/Song. For my layout, I took up the challenge from Sunday Stamps who have a new sketch and this is my friends is the end result, what do you think? Well I'm off to find another challenge, thanks for stopping by....

Gorgeous...

Here is my last card for the day...I am really happy with this card and I have earmarked it for my beautiful daughters birthday for when she turns 17 later in the year. As I said in a previous post, I really like the new Cardabilities  sketch and now I have made a male card and a female card for this sketch and since I'm on holidays, I'm actually able to play along with Dynamic Duo's. I really like playing along with the Dynamic Duo's  challenges but as I really only get Saturday to stamp their challenges are usually closed by the time I get to sit at my craft desk...but I'm here now and making the most of it. Well, I'm off but if everything goes according to plan I will be back tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by...

Hello Friend

As promised, I'm back with another card for my impromptu stamping day. For this card I have taken up the challenge from Unscripted Sketches...this card changed tact a few times before I was happy with the result. I really like that floral DP but it ended up being a bit harder to use then I thought. Make sure you pop on over and check out the other gorgeous creations and as always, thanks for stopping by.

Forever Friends

Lucky me...I'm spending my Easter Monday in my craft room while skyping with my mate Robyn! I hope your Easter has been lovely, we have had a very quiet one as hubby has had to work all weekend. We will be making up for it next weekend which is another long weekend in Australia due to the ANZAC public holiday on Friday. We usually go and support the ANZAC parades which are to acknowledge our men & women that have served in the Australian & New Zealand military in past and present conflicts but this year we are having a weekend away with family and friends staying out our friends beach hut. Autumn is a beautiful time of year in North Queensland so it is going to be a lovely weekend up there and it should be a bit quieter than this weekend would have been we hope, as most people go away for Easter, we would think they won't go away two weekends in a row...either way, I am really looking forward to it.
Anyway, back to my card...The Friday Mashup have a sketch and they would like it done in the Ombre technique...I've never heard of this before but apparently it means graduated colour, so I have taken up their challenge and the colour combo I have chosen is the latest one over at Inspired By Stamping. Make sure you pop on over to both challenges and check them out...I'll be back a little later with another card hopefully, until then happy stamping.

Take time to Celebrate

Well, I'm back with my last card for my Stamping Saturday and there is a story to it...I absolutely LOVE the new Cardabilities sketch and I started out making a card nothing like how it turned out to be. It was going to be soft and feminine...there is even soft pink sprayed on this card....but as it evolved it ended  up being a male card. Now this isn't a bad thing but I really wanted to make a nice pretty feminine card so I'm going to have to make another one!! LOL!! With all that aside, I am really happy how this turned out, lets hope the next one is as nice. Make sure you pop on over and check out the stunning cards that have been posted already and wishing you all the best for Easter...whatever  you are doing....

May your day be a special one...

I'm back with my second card for my stamping Saturday...today instead of Skyping while stamping with my good friend Robyn...I'm Skyping and stamping with my sister in-law Vikki....yes we both have the same name AND spelt the same way so we have to differentiate with our surnames. We've gotten used to it after 32 years but it's harder for our friends and relies hehe. Anyway, Vikki R used to live in the same city as me but she moved to Tasmania a couple of months ago...so since Robyn is busy spending Easter with her children & lovely new granddaughter, Vik & I are having our very first Skyping Saturday. So, back to my card...for this card I have taken up the challenge from Inspired By Stamping where you can pick the sketch or the colours or have flowers or...have them all....which is what I chose. Make sure you pop on over and join in the fun and as always, thanks for stopping by...

You Brighten my Day

Hi Fellow Crafters...todays card was made using the latest sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch and the latest challenge from Uniko Studio which is a colour challenge. I don't really 'do' yellow...I like yellow...but I don't really gravitate towards it so this was out of my comfort zone and as you can tell by the flowers on my card and the flowers in my watermark, that I like these daisies...or whatever sort of flower they are hehe. Hope your Easter Saturday is going well for you whatever you may be doing. Thanks for popping by...

Just a little note...

Hi All, my good friend Robyn & I used to have a little challenge going where we picked a colour theme or layout to use to make a card. It used to be called the RobVik Challenge but it has gone by the wayside a bit as there are so many challenge blogs out there now that we have our hands full playing along with them. Sadly my sister in-law, also called Vikki has moved to Tasmania (I'm at the top of Australia, she's now at the bottom) but this might end up being a bit of a blessing as she has a bit more time on her hands these days. Vikki R is also a stamper but doesn't get to play along very often but now that she has some free time, she has been making a few cards of late. So to keep her motivated, Robyn & I decided to put it to her that we revive the RobVik challenge to the RobVikVik challenge where we all get to choose a part to create a card.
For this month, Robyn asked that we use a stamp we have never used or an old stamp that hasn't been pulled out for a while. Vikki R chose the colour combo & I chose the layout. The layout I chose was one of Chupa's old sketches from Sketchbook Saturday...I must admit the layout ended up being a lot harder than I thought it would be. Nothing was working for me so I ended up 'casing' Chupa's version of the sketch. I think her card looks amazing, link here, make sure you check it out. Anyway, this card is very different for me but it has seemed to pointed me in a different direction which I'm enjoying as I have been very CAS of late but then that's the beauty of all those talented people out there blogging their creations, it gives you so much inspiration and so many different styles to try. Here's the link to Robyn's card and the link to Vikki R's card, pop on over and check them out....if you would like to join, just send me a note, we would love you too.Well, I'm off to create, hope you have a lovely Easter...

Our Beautiful World - WORDS

This weeks prompt over at Our Beautiful World is WORDS. I was a bit stumped as to what to take a photo of  but just this afternoon I looked up at the prints I have on the wall in my craft room and I saw this one.
My sister in-law gave it to me for my birthday a few years ago as she knew we were going for a holiday to Europe the next year I think it was and we would be seeing the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Anyway, it really suits my craft room as there is a lot of Passion for Stamping in that room and it suits the prompt for OBW this week which is WORDS. Make sure you pop on over and check out the other great images or even join in. Thanks for stopping by...

Postcard

Hi All, I snuck out to my craft room yesterday afternoon to make a card for the birthday celebrations happening over at the City Crafter Challenge Blog but sadly I didn't get it finished in time!! Damn!! You had to pick a card to 'case' and the one I picked was a 'postcard' theme. Even though I don't really do shabby chic the last two cards I have made over the last couple of days have been just that and I must admit, I'm really happy with how they turned out. On both cards, I have made a panel of sprayed card with distress ink sponging then background stamping to fill the background. I have then stamped my main image on the card on top of all that and for this card it is the postage images. I then stamped a birdcage and bird on the base DP and then cut them out and layered them on the postcard. I've also added a corner flourish with some flowers to finish it off. This was really fun to make since of late I have been in a real CAS mode...maybe I can do shabby chic after all...wink wink....Thanks for stopping in...

Happy Happy Happy Birthday

Well, I know I said the last card was my last card for the day, but I saw the previous sketch at Unscripted Sketches and an idea just popped into my head....so I just HAD to make a card using it. It's funny how your cards can be so different. The last few cards have all been floral, soft and feminine and yet as soon as I think 'male' lately it's automatically been black 'n' white. So needless to say, this card was whipped up pretty quickly cause it's not like I have to match colours or anything...hehe...Anyway, this is definitely my last card! Thanks for stopping by....
