Our Beautiful World - ROAD

This weeks theme at Our Beautiful World is ROAD which this photo fits perfectly. The photo was taken just south of Townsville at a very small township called Guthalungra. I think there would only be a handful of houses in this small township and I don't really know why they would have been built, maybe farming...

This photo is very 'Australian' once you travel out of the cities and off the main roads there are lots of these roads going off into the scrub. I'm not sure if you realize what the brown thing on the road is but it is called a cattle grid. It stops cattle from getting off the property where they belong. There is gaps between long strips of metal (sorry I'm a girl, don't know what the proper description is hehe) so that the cattle can't walk across it. Grids save the need to have gates.

Another 'road' not as well used but you can see it there none the less. These tracks were probably made by the graziers checking their fence lines.

A windmill pumping the much needed water that the cattle need.

Thanks for stopping by, make sure you check out the other great photos over at Our Beautiful World and perhaps even join in.

  1. Hi Vikki - love these photos, yes so typically Australian when you're off the main roads.
